Take family members resting pulse rate. Time each person doing a moderate activity like marching for two minutes. Then see how their pulse rises as they jog for two minutes. Record all the data in a family chart.

With an increase in activity, the resting pulse rate should lower over time as the heart becomes more efficient. Make an effort to do more walking or tossing the football together. Check pulse rates for resting, moderate, and more challenging activities after a month. Was there any decrease in the resting pulse rate or a quicker return to normal rate after exercise to indicate a better fitness level?
